“I volunteer as a tutor in the Rolla Mission GED program.

It’s been a humbling experience in many ways. I’ve learned that I’m not nearly as smart as I thought I was, and that I share more similarities
than differences with the folks that I work with. The church we attend said that the Mission was looking for volunteers in
their GED program and my wife suggested I volunteer. I’m a retired school teacher and my education has opened so many doors for me, it felt
like a good fit to lend a hand at the Mission. [The most rewarding part] Watching students, young and not so young,
progress in their studies and work toward an important goal.[To those who want to volunteer] Go for it. I have found it very rewarding.
Not terribly time-consuming and relatively easy to do.
